Creative genius cannot be kept confined. It needs to be honed, it needs to be showcased and it needs a platform. MECCA, the Marketing Club of Goa Institute of Management exists to provide this very platform for students passionate about Marketing.

MECCA is GIM’s oldest club and is managed by a group of students who are selected on the basis of the interest and inclination towards the field of marketing and has members who are keen to strengthen their understanding of the Marketing world though collaborative learning. MECCA hosts intra-collegiate events regularly, each of which has an underlying marketing concept. These events are designed to complement and enhance classroom learning. Concepts of Marketing learned in class need to be applied by the participants in order to excel at each of MECCA’s events.

Over the years MECCA has strived to enhance its reputation, as not just an organisation that caters to the internal learning needs of students but one that helps stimulate corporate interaction with students to further create interest and value to both parties beneficially in the field of marketing. In view of the same MECCA is currently working on the following;

  • Setting up its own online portal in addition to our presence on Facebook and twitter, to allow the industry to send in their queries and projects for students to work on in order for them to achieve creative inputs and provide the students with real world experience.
  • Starting a blog to keep track of various upcoming innovations in the field of marketing – including posts from industry experts
  • Organisation of workshops on specific marketing trends and introducing students to specific upcoming industries related to the field of Marketing – to build interest among students

MECCA – the Marketing Inveterate of GIM is responsible for the dissemination of marketing concepts through organizing a host of competitive events. MECCA’s most significant endeavour however, is the organization of the Annual  Corporate quiz of GIM “WIZBIZ”. WIZBIZ is India’s largest student organized corporate quiz that sees participation of renowned quizzers from all over the country. Started in 2000 and envisioned to boost the student – corporate interaction, WIZBIZ has already created a brand recall for itself in the mind of QUIZZING aficionados including national winners of quizzes like Tata Crucible and Brand Equity. WIZBIZ 2013, the 13th edition of this legacy event saw 30 teams participating from companies such as TCS, Oracle, Genpact-Questa, HDFC Bank, Morpheus Human Consulting, L&T Finance, HDFC Life, IBM, SBI, SESA Goa to name a few. With the audience comprising of students and the corporate fraternity, this event is hosted by one of India’s most popular quizmasters, Mr. Avinash Mudaliar. The total prize money of the event was Rs. 1.5 lakhs.

In the past, MECCA has been privileged to be associated with TATA Motors as their title sponsor for WIZBIZ 2011. In addition to that, we also conducted a pan India case study competition, “Revving Up” in February, 2011 for TATA Motors’s new launch Tata Ventures.  Based on a preliminary online round, the top seven teams which included those from IIM Shillong, MICA, NITIE, IIFT & GIM presented their innovative ideas before a panel of judges from Tata Motors . The winners from IIFT were offered a placement interview.

As a marketing club of GIM, MECCA has also been associated in conducting events and campaigns with corporations such as IDEA, Coca-Cola, SBI, V.M Salgaocar group, TATA Motors, DELL, and Department of tourism, Goa. WIZBIZ 2013 saw the launch of the “official page of Goa tourism” on Facebook with followers exceeding more than 9000 in less than two months.

    The website address that you have mentioned for registration is not opening . I have also mailed it to one of the available mail address , but did’nt recieve a reply .Kindly let me know about the other way to register asap.
